In a landmark event for our school community, we are thrilled to announce the official inauguration of our brand-new, state-of-the-art sports complex. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held last Tuesday, marked the culmination of months of planning and construction, and ushers in a new era for athletics, wellness, and student life on our campus. This outstanding facility is designed to provide our students with the best possible resources to explore their athletic talents, foster teamwork, and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle.
The inauguration ceremony was a joyous occasion, attended by students, parents, faculty, and esteemed guests. The guest of honor, Mr. Salim Al-Harthy, a celebrated Omani athlete and youth advocate, delivered an inspiring speech about the importance of discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. “A facility like this is more than just a building,” he remarked. “It is a training ground for future leaders. On the court and on the field, you learn to work together, to push your limits, and to handle both victory and defeat with grace. These are lessons that will serve you for the rest of your lives.”
Following the speeches, guests were taken on a tour of the impressive new complex. The facility boasts a multi-purpose indoor gymnasium with courts marked for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, complete with retractable seating for spectators. A key highlight is the upgraded, all-weather football pitch, which features professional-grade turf and floodlights for evening games and practices. Additionally, the complex includes a modern fitness center with age-appropriate equipment and dedicated spaces for activities like yoga and martial arts.
Our school principal, Mrs. Muna Al-Farsi, spoke about the vision behind the project. “We believe that physical education and sports are integral components of a holistic education. This complex is a significant investment in our students’ well-being. It provides a safe and professional environment for them to develop their physical skills, but more importantly, to build character. Team sports teach collaboration, leadership, and mutual respect—qualities that are just as important as academic achievements.”
The excitement among the students is palpable. “I can’t wait to train on the new football pitch,” said Omar, the captain of the school’s senior football team. “Having a facility like this shows that the school really supports its athletes. It motivates all of us to train harder and bring more trophies home. The indoor court is amazing too; it means we can practice year-round, no matter the weather.”
The new sports complex will not only benefit our competitive school teams but will also enhance our physical education curriculum for all students, from the youngest learners to our graduating seniors. It will also serve as a central hub for community events, fostering a greater sense of school spirit and camaraderie. We look forward to seeing our students thrive in this exceptional new environment.
